🌍 Network Overview
DarkWorld IRC Network (DWIRC) is a **global, multi‑continent IRC network** designed for reliability, privacy, and community. This page provides technical and operational details of the network infrastructure.
🗺️ Server Locations
DWIRC operates servers in four regions to ensure low latency worldwide:

All servers also accept plaintext connections on port 6667. The round‑robin address `irc.darkworld.network` automatically routes you to the fastest available server.
🔧 Technical Specifications
- **IRC Daemon:** UnrealIRCd (latest stable)
- **Services:** Anope (NickServ, ChanServ, MemoServ, HostServ, BotServ, OperServ)
- **Encryption:** TLS 1.2+ with modern cipher suites
- **Connection limits:** 4 connections per IP (enforced at 5)
- **Network linking:** SSL‑encrypted server‑to‑server links
- **Monitoring:** Automated alerting for uptime and performance
🛡️ Security & Privacy
- No mandatory logging of private messages (only connection metadata for 30 days)
- TLS/SSL available on all servers
- OperServ flood protection and DNS blacklisting
- Staff follow a strict code of conduct regarding user data

🔌 Connecting from Mobile or Restricted Networks
Use these alternate ports if your network blocks IRC:
- **Port 443** (SSL) – masquerades as HTTPS
- **Port 80** (plain) – not recommended, no encryption
- **Web IRC client** at webirc.darkworld.network
🧪 Network Testing Tools
- Ping test: `ping irc.darkworld.network`
- Traceroute: contact staff for assistance if you have routing issues
- SSL check: `openssl s_client -connect irc.darkworld.network:6697 -servername irc.darkworld.network`
