Having trouble connecting or using DarkWorld IRC? This page covers common issues and solutions.

🔌 Connection Problems

“Connection refused” or “Timeout”

- Ensure you’re using the correct port: `6667` (plain) or `6697` (SSL) - Try the round‑robin address: `irc.darkworld.network` - Some networks block IRC – try port `443` (SSL) which mimics HTTPS

“SSL certificate error”

- Update your IRC client - Accept the certificate manually if using a web client - Check your system date – incorrect dates break SSL

“You are banned (K‑line/G‑line)”

👤 Nickname & Account Issues

Nickname already in use

- Wait 30 seconds – it might be a ghost (leftover session) - Use `/msg NickServ GHOST <nick> <password>` to kill the old connection - Register your nick with `/msg NickServ REGISTER <password> <email>`

Forgot NickServ password

Email `staff@darkworld.network` from the email you registered with. Include your nickname.

Change or drop nickname

- Change: `/msg NickServ SET PASSWORD <newpass>` - Drop (permanent): `/msg NickServ DROP <nick>` (use with caution)

🤖 Bot & Automation Issues

- Bots are allowed but must be identified with NickServ - Limit: 2 bots per user without approval – email `limits@darkworld.network` for more - Flooding bots will be K‑lined

🐢 Lag or High Ping

- Use `/map` to see servers – connect to one geographically closer - Run a ping test: `ping irc.darkworld.network` - Check your own internet connection - Some VPNs increase latency – try disconnecting
