🤝 Helpers & Channel Staff

Helpers and channel staff are trusted community members who assist users, answer questions, and maintain a positive atmosphere in DarkWorld channels.

🟢 Helpers

Helpers are **not IRCops** – they cannot issue network bans. Their role is to: - Answer questions about IRC commands and network features - Guide new users to the right channels and services - De-escalate minor disputes - Report rule violations to IRCops

Helpers have a `+h` (help) flag in `#DWIRC` and other support channels.

🧹 Channel Staff (Operators)

Individual channels have their own operators (ops) with `@` or `%` privileges. Channel ops **only have authority within their own channel**.

Channel ops can: - Set channel modes (topics, bans, invite-only) - Kick or ban disruptive users from that channel - Manage channel bots

Channel ops **cannot**: - Issue network-wide bans (G-lines) - Affect users outside their channel

🎓 Becoming a Helper

Helpers are selected by IRCops and NetAdmins. Criteria: - Registered for at least 3 months - No active bans or warnings - Consistently helpful in channels - Understands network rules

💬 How to Get Help

- For general questions: join `#DWIRC` or `#Help` - For channel-specific issues: ask an op in that channel - For network bans or serious issues: see DWIRC:Ban Appeals & Reports
