🚫 Ban Appeals & Reports

This page explains how to appeal a network ban or report violations.

📋 Types of Bans

| Ban Type | Scope | Duration | Who Sets It | |----------|-------|----------|-------------| | **K‑line** | Single server | Temporary or permanent | Server admin / IRCop | | **G‑line** | Entire network | Usually temporary (days to months) | NetAdmin / senior IRCop | | **Channel ban** | One channel | Channel op’s discretion | Channel operator |

📝 How to Appeal a Ban

K‑line (server ban)

1. Find the server admin’s email with `/ADMIN` on that server 2. Send an email with:

  - Your IP address (shown in ban message)
  - Date and time of ban
  - Explanation of what happened and why it won’t repeat

3. Wait up to 7 days for a response

G‑line (network ban)

1. Email `appeals@darkworld.network` 2. Include:

  - Your IP address and/or nickname
  - The exact ban reason (copy from your IRC client)
  - A sincere explanation and plan to avoid future issues

3. Staff will review within 14 days. You may be asked follow-up questions. 4. **No response** after 14 days means the appeal was denied (we do not always reply).

Channel ban

Contact the channel’s operators. If they are abusive, email `abuse@darkworld.network` with evidence.

📢 Reporting Violations

If you see a rule violation, you can:

| Method | Best For | Anonymity | |--------|----------|-----------| | `/stats p` then `/msg` an IRCop | Active incidents (flooding, harassment) | No (they see your nick) | | Email `abuse@darkworld.network` | Ongoing issues, evidence with logs | Yes – use a throwaway email | | Join `#DWIRC` and ask for staff | General help | No |

Provide timestamps, logs, and relevant channel names. Screenshots are accepted but logs are better.

⚠️ What Not to Do

- Do not publicly argue about bans in channels (that can extend your ban) - Do not ban evade – that changes your appeal from temporary to permanent - Do not harass staff about appeals – send one email and wait
