Staff Guidelines

These are general rules and guidelines for Net-Admin & Operators to act/ take actions in the light of these guidlines. These rules also provide protection to users & channel owners against any abuse by netadmins & opers.

OPERS Guidelines:

Operators are the key persons who maintain and help in smooth running of network operations and its management tasks. There are some general guidelines for DarkServ.Network operators.

• Most important thing is to solve problems with guiding/educating users without use of Oper Powers.
• GLINE should be used only when there is not alternate solution left.

KILL/GLINE:

Opers shall kill or gline users if network rules are violated.

• Mass Flooding including flood/clonebots. Mass flooding to multiple channels over network.

Note: If flood is over a single channel then channel ban can be made by channel Opers, not a GLINE by opers.

• Distribution of copyrighted material (eg, warez, mp3,movies) or pornography.
• Attempts to takeover existing channels or network services.
• Racism and/or Nazism.
• Spamming and/or advertising.

Note: Channel owner are allowd to set URL's in topic regarding their services or blogs etc. This does not include URLs of other IRCd Network or Network Invites if someone does will get gline after warning to remove such URL from channel topic.

• Hacking (including Virus/Trojan distribution).

Users Channels:

.Network opers are not allowed to give or take flags (QOP/SOP/AOP/HOP/VOP ) over user channels.

Channel Owner/opers has freedom to add/remove or ban/unban anyone over their channels.

If a channel is used for mass spam/advertisement , a warning should be given to channel owner/opers regarding network rules violation. If they continue specific channel should be suspended for a period of 10 days.

NET-ADMINS Guidelines:

NOTE:

OPERS Guidlines are also for Net-Admins, so all network admins should also follow Operator’s guidelines.

• Every net admin should intimate in advance to network staff & over network with an announcement regarding upgrade/update/maintenance of server & its estimate downtime.
• Net Admins are not allowed to give themselves flags (QOP/SOP/AOP/VOP) over Users Owned Channels or Network channels by using their powers.
• Net-Admins are not allowed to GLINE/KLINE/KILL any user for personal reasons.
• If any admin does these things will be considered as an abuse of power, action can be taken in this regard by network management.
• Addition of a new Operator by any net-admin over its server should first consult with other net-admins. If any net-admin have objection, then voting can be done to solve this matter.
• Every Operator must have a Sponsor Admin. If Sponsor admin decides to un-sponsor /remove the operator from its server, then other admins have the option to sponsor/add that Operator over their server by following the preceding rule of no objection by other net admins.
• If there is any matter that admins are unable to get guideline from rules can be discussed in #Management channel over network.
