ChanServ

ChanServ manages the registration and access of channels on the network.

1. Channel Registration

  • Channel registration is allowed only for users with confirmed DWIRC:NickServ accounts.
  • Users must have operator (@) status in the channel to register it.
  • A registered channel designates the user as founder, giving full control over channel settings and access.

2. Channel Expiry

  • Channels are considered inactive after 180 days of no joins or activity.
  • Expired channels may be removed or reassigned following policy review.

3. Channel Transfers

Ownership transfer is permitted in the following cases:

  • By agreement between users
  • Due to inactivity of the founder for 90 days

All transfers are subject to Oper team approval.

4. Access and Settings

Registered channels may utilize:

  • xOP / Access lists for privilege control
  • Secure settings like SECURE, RESTRICTED, PRIVATE, or PERSIST
  • Bots (via DWIRC:BotServ) and host configurations (via DWIRC:HostServ)
