HostServ

HostServ allows users to request custom hostnames (vHosts) for privacy and community identity.

1. Eligibility

  • Users must have a confirmed DWIRC:NickServ account.
  • Hostnames must not:
    • Imitate official staff or network services
    • Include offensive or misleading content

All requests are reviewed by staff and typically logged for auditing purposes.

Commands

Command Purpose Usage
HELP Displays help information for HostServ commands. /msg HostServ HELP
ON / OFF Activates or deactivates your assigned vHost.

When activated, your vHost will be visible to others instead of your real IP address.

/msg HostServ ON
/msg HostServ OFF

Alternative Method:
/mode YourNick +x (to activate)
/mode YourNick -x (to deactivate)

REQUEST Allows users to request a custom virtual host (vHost) to mask their real IP address.

Requests are reviewed by network administrators.

/msg HostServ REQUEST desired.vhost.example.com
