🌐 ZNC Setup Guide
ZNC is an advanced IRC **bouncer** that keeps you connected to the network 24/7 — even when your IRC client is offline. It stores your messages and replays them when you reconnect, ensuring you never miss conversations or notifications.
DarkWorld Network provides ZNC access through DWBouncers for all registered users. You can also view supported client setup examples at DWBouncers/Clients.
🧭 Step 1: Connect to DWBouncers
You can request a ZNC account by visiting: → DWBouncers or directly through DWBouncers/Clients for client-specific setup instructions.
Once approved, you will receive:
- ZNC Host:
yourname.bouncers.darkworld.network - Port:
31337(SSL enabled) - Username:
username/network - Password: your assigned password
- WebAdmin URL:
https://bouncers.darkworld.network:31337
⚙️ Step 2: Connect via IRC Client
Open your preferred IRC client (e.g., Textual, LimeChat, HexChat, or IRCCloud) and enter the following details:
| Setting | Example |
|---|---|
| Server' | yourname.bouncers.darkworld.network
|
| Port | 31337 (SSL)
|
| SSL | Enabled ✅ |
| Username | username/darkworld:password
|
| Real Name | Optional |
✅ Tip: The format username/network:password allows you to connect multiple networks (if configured).
🔐 Step 3: Secure Your Connection
Always use SSL for both IRC and WebAdmin access:
- ZNC Port
31337is SSL-enabled. - You can verify encryption via your IRC client logs (should show `Connected securely`).
If using NickServ authentication, enable SASL or add the identify command in Network → NickServ Settings:
/msg NickServ IDENTIFY yourpassword
🕊️ Summary
ZNC ensures you remain online, receive all messages, and never miss activity — even while your client is closed. Once configured, you can use your bouncer across multiple devices or clients seamlessly.
