If you are having issues connecting to your ZNC, logging in, or maintaining a stable connection, this page provides solutions to the most common problems. These steps apply to both Free ZNC and Support ZNC users.
â Common Connection Issues
1. âConnection Refusedâ
This usually means:
- You are using the wrong host or port
- SSL is not enabled
- ZNC is temporarily restarting
- Your account was removed after 12+ days of inactivity
Fix:
- Verify the server address:
bouncers.darkworld.network - Use SSL port: 31337
- Make sure your ZNC account is still active
- Try reconnecting after 1â2 minutes
2. âInvalid Passwordâ or Login Failure
ZNC passwords are not the same as NickServ passwords.
Fix:
- Ensure you are using the correct format:
username/network:password
- If unsure, reset your password via WebAdmin:
http://bouncers.darkworld.network:31337
- Make sure caps lock and spaces are not accidentally added
3. WebAdmin Not Loading
If the page does not load:
Fix:
- Use HTTPS for WebAdmin:
https://bouncers.darkworld.network:1337
- Try a different browser
- Check if any browser extension is blocking the page
- Ensure your ZNC account is still active
đ NickServ & Authentication Issues
4. NickServ Not Identifying Automatically
If your nickname does not identify when reconnecting:
Fix:
- Add your password to ZNC â Network Settings â NickServ
- Enable SASL (if your client supports it)
- Ensure your NickServ password was entered correctly
5. âYou are not identifiedâ Errors
Some channels require NickServ authentication before joining.
Fix:
- Enable SASL in your IRC client
- Verify your NickServ password
- Check that ZNC isn't sending the wrong login timing
đĄ Stability & Disconnection Problems
6. Frequent Disconnects
This can happen due to:
- Wrong port
- Missing SSL
- Network instability on your end
- Idle for too long
Fix:
- Use SSL port **+1337 or 31337**
- Check your local Wi-Fi or mobile network stability
- Ensure your client pings at regular intervals
- Avoid remaining disconnected from IRC for more than 12 days
(Inactive accounts are removed)
7. Duplicate Connections
If you see: > Already connected from another location
Fix:
- Disconnect the old device
- Check WebAdmin â âDisconnect Sessionsâ
- Restart your IRC client fully
âď¸ Module Problems
8. Missing Buffers (No Backlog)
If your join/leave/playback history is empty:
Fix:
- Ensure the module buffextras is enabled
- Ensure keepnick and autoattach are enabled for stability
- Increase your buffer size in ZNC WebAdmin
9. Module Not Working
Fix:
- Disable and re-enable the module
- Save settings
- Reconnect to ZNC
- If on Free ZNC, remember that some modules are Support-only
đ Account & Policy Issues
10. âAccount Removedâ
Accounts are deleted if:
- Idle for 12+ days
- Multiple ZNC accounts were created
- Abuse or malicious activity was detected
Fix:
- Request a new account in
#DWBouncers - Stay connected to irc.darkworld.network to avoid inactivity flags
11. Canât Change Real Name
ZNC realname is locked for all users.
Fix:
- You cannot change it â this is by policy.
